About your trip

Pack your bags for a soul-stirring Muslim Ladies Only Sakinah Retreat through New Zealand’s South Island, where breathtaking landscapes, meaningful experiences, and moments of stillness create a journey you’ll carry with you long after.

From the towering peaks of Aoraki/Mount Cook to the still waters of Lake Wanaka, from the adventure capital of Queenstown to the sacred silence of Doubtful Sound – this journey invites you to step beyond comfort, embrace challenge, and discover how nature and faith intertwine to create the ultimate ibadah experience.

Over 10 days and 9 nights, you'll journey through some of the world's most awe-inspiring landscapes – not as a tourist, but as a seeker. This is where physical challenges become spiritual exercises, where mountain vistas become places of khushu (presence), and where sisterhood becomes your greatest support system.

This is more than a retreat – it's a spiritual adventure designed for:

  • Working professionals who need to disconnect from digital overwhelm, burnout culture and reconnect with their Creator in one of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth

  • Nature enthusiasts who want their love for creation to deepen their love for the Creator

  • Adventure seekers ready to challenge themselves physically while strengthening their iman

  • Transformative travelers who seek experiences that change their perspective on life and worship

Your Journey of Ibadah Through Nature:

Begin each day with Fajr in the company of sisters, followed by morning adhkar as the sun rises over mountain peaks. Your days will weave together scenic explorations that test your endurance, reflective moments that test your patience, and breathtaking vistas that test your ability to comprehend Allah's creation.

This retreat is intentionally designed to move you beyond your comfort zone – physically, mentally, and spiritually. Whether it's making du'a overlooking Doubtful Sound's fjords, finding khushu while walking beside Lake Tekapo's turquoise waters, or discovering tawakkul (trust) as you navigate the alpine trails of Aoraki/Mount Cook – every experience is designed to deepen your connection with Allah.

Meet Your Adventure Guide: Dua Discovers

We are honored to have Dua Discovers as our expert local Kiwi retreat guide – an inspiring Muslim woman whose passion for New Zealand's landscapes and love for adventure has transformed how thousands of Muslim women experience the outdoors in Aotearoa.

Dua's infectious enthusiasm and deep connection to both her faith and New Zealand's natural wonders make her the perfect companion for this journey. With her guidance, you'll discover hidden gems that most tourists never see, learn about the spiritual significance of the landscapes we traverse, and feel the confidence that comes from exploring in the company of someone who truly understands both the terrain and your heart's journey.

Adventure That Feels Like Ibadah:

Experience the thrill of exploring New Zealand's iconic landscapes – from the historic charm of Arrowtown to the cinematic beauty of Glenorchy, from the serene reflections of Mirror Lakes to the vast stillness of Doubtful Sound. Challenge yourself with alpine hikes that require both physical strength and spiritual perseverance. Witness the awe of untouched wilderness that reminds you of the vastness of Allah's power.

These aren't just adventure activities – they're opportunities to practice patience, gratitude, and presence in ways that traditional settings rarely allow. The mountains become your teacher, the lakes become your reminder, and the fjords become your witnesses as you grow closer to Allah.

We've taken all the logistics out of your spiritual journey:

From halal meals to comfortable accommodations, from expert local guides to seamless transport – everything is arranged so you can focus entirely on your transformation. All that's left for you to do is book your flights, prepare your heart, and step into the adventure.

In the evening, we head into Wanaka town for our first group dinner, sharing our first moments of connection and sisterhood together.

Lakes, Mountains & Moments of Reflection

After Fajr and morning adhkar, we begin our day with presence and gratitude before setting out on a scenic journey through some of the South Island’s most stunning locations.

We visit the charming town of Arrowtown before continuing to Queenstown for a relaxed lunch stop. From there, we head to the breathtaking Bob’s Cove, where we’ll take a gentle walk and pause for a reflection session surrounded by still waters and mountain views.

Our journey continues toward Glenorchy, with scenic stops along the way including Mirror Lakes — each moment inviting awe and quiet reflection. We return to Wanaka in the evening, gathering for Maghreb and Isha, followed by a relaxed dinner.

Wanaka Nature Immersion

We begin the day with Fajr and morning adhkar, followed by a peaceful breakfast.

Wanaka is known for its calm energy — a place where time slows down. We take a gentle walk along the lakefront, where mountains meet still water and every view feels like a moment of pause.

We gather for an outdoor session surrounded by nature — a space for reflection, journalling, and reconnecting inward.

The rest of the day is yours — whether you choose to kayak on the lake, cycle through scenic trails, revisit Queenstown, or simply sit in stillness and take it all in.

In the evening, we come together for Maghreb and Isha, followed by a reflection circle and shared dinner.

Day 5 - Doubtful Sound

Day 5 - Doubtful Sound image

Fjords, Silence & Awe-Inspiring Beauty

After Fajr and an early start, we journey deep into Fiordland National Park — one of the most remote and untouched regions of New Zealand.

Arriving at Doubtful Sound, we board our overnight cruise and enter a landscape unlike anywhere else — towering cliffs rising dramatically from dark, still waters, waterfalls cascading from great heights, and a deep silence that feels almost sacred. As we cruise through the fjords, you may spot dolphins, seals, and native birdlife. But beyond what you see, it’s what you feel — a stillness, a vastness — that makes this experience unforgettable.

This is a place that naturally invites du’a, reflection, and presence — where the distractions of the world fall away. A moment to pause, reflect, and witness the majesty of Allah’s creation.

Day 6 - Twizel

Day 6 - Twizel image

From Fjords to Open Landscapes

We wake up onboard the cruise, surrounded by the stillness of Doubtful Sound — often covered in soft morning mist, with waterfalls cascading down the fjords and complete silence all around. After a slow morning taking in the final moments of this breathtaking landscape, we disembark around midday and begin our journey onward.

From here, we travel toward Twizel — a small, peaceful town surrounded by vast open landscapes, glacial lakes, and wide skies. Along the way, we take scenic stops, witnessing the transition from dramatic fjords and dense wilderness to expansive plains and open alpine terrain.

We arrive in Twizel, check in, and settle into a quiet evening — allowing space to rest, reset, and reflect after a deeply immersive experience.

Day 7 - Mt Cook

Day 7 - Mt Cook image

Exploring Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park

After Fajr, we journey to Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park — home to New Zealand’s highest peak and some of the most striking alpine scenery in the world.

Today, we’ll spend the day immersed in the beauty of Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, exploring some of New Zealand’s most iconic and breathtaking trails. This is a true Nature Day Out, with sweeping views of Mount Cook, snow-capped peaks, hanging glaciers, and serene alpine landscapes—especially magical in winter.

The tracks we’ll be completing are return walks and are beginner-friendly, making it accessible to most fitness levels. This day is a powerful opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and reflect on the majesty of Allah’s creation in one of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth.

Day 8 - Tekapo

Day 8 - Tekapo image
